Paper Flowers

Well this is what I ended up doing with the paper flowers I made  ( btw the lady's flowers in the video were way prettier than mine !  ) that's probably because they were a pain to paint and I got lazy , lol .

                    but I thought this was kinda a cute thing to do with them

Cardbor-ed ?

Crafty night Craft  #2  Weaving Cardboard Vases.

 I was skeptical at first , I never would have really thought to use cardboard for anything decorative in my house before. I have used it for kids Halloween costumes and things like that , but a vase ? I was like , hmm.... I guess we will see how this turns out ! Well  , I somewhat finished it today , I still need to glue on the bottom and I want to varnish it a little more so it's Really shiny and non-carboardy looking ! What do ya think  ?

This what it was originally supposed to look like ( of course we all put our own spin on it ) One of the girls in our group had the idea to put Christmas lights or Led lights wrapped around it , I love that idea and might try that too. I really like the newspaper flowers , also .  Once I put the branches in it , I liked the natural look and decided to leave it just like that . I think I am going to make some newspaper flowers today just for the heck of it anyway , I am sure they will come in handy . I really wanted to make some soon because I found this cool tutorial and these are so pretty !

Can't believe they are newspaper ! Now I don't have the kit that she has but I figure I can cut out the petals just fine without it. To think , this is all recycled and FREE ! with the exception of a little paint . I did buy a can of Bauhaus Gold Krylon for the base color of my vase, it was only like 3 something. Then I just glazed it with some metallic Gold , Bronze and Teal folk art craft paint . Ha , pretty fun , and you can't beat free.  So I say, eat your heart out Pier 1 !

Next week we are making something for our beautiful ( and brilliant )  crafty heads  ; )   maybe something  feathery or  flowery .. hee hee

I Love Love Day !

 Some people think  V - day is ridiculous , over - rated and  CHEESY . Which it is , but I don't care . I love it anyway! I love candy hearts , flowers , stuffed animals and most of all stopping to smell the roses are red , violets are blue . You don't need one day of the year to tell the people you love that you love them , but don't you think it 's nice to take one whole day and delicate it to Love . Why not ?  it's the best thing there is ! Now I know I am a day late , but I wanted to blog my about V-Day yesterday because it ruled . And because I made something for my hubby that I was really proud of  because it made him happy . Besides ,  it was too cute of an idea not to share. I was slackin in the gift department and waited until the last minute to make his gift , well , for one we were on vacay last weekend and I didn't have time before then . So I did this all in one day .

I LOVE YOU BECAUSE JAR

One of the best things about being a crafty hoarder is that you don't need any money at a given moment to make someone a special gift . I had all this shit laying around ! I happened to have a clear jar and I just ran with it. I filled it with scrabble pieces spelling out something special that he had to figure out , memory stones , rose quartz , seashells from some of our beach vacations, scrolls all written with all the reasons why I love him the most. (It was hard to not make too many because as I wrote them out, I kept thinking of more !) I put candy in it and made some mini painted clay mushrooms to put in it also. ( my husband is a big mushroom dood ) if you read my other blog I talked about that a little bit. I always loved them because I thought they were pretty and mystical , now I love' em cause they are effin delicious ! So It's an interest we both share , hunting wild mushrooms  : )  Then I glued our picture to the outside and decorated it with puffy paint , pearl x pigments mixed w gel medium , rub ons and scrap book paper cutouts.

MEMORY STONES

I picked up these fish bowl thingy- majigs at goodwill a few weeks ago for a totally different reason. 2 bucks , huge bag ! This idea just kinda popped into my head valentines eve and I was like "oh cuteness!" very excited , anyhow .. I remembered that in my old picture box I had all these tiny photo sheets from when I would get pictures developed . I had used a few of the tiny photos for lockets before.

Ta da ! memory stones. I trimmed all the tiny pictures ( they ain't perfect ) and glued them to the glass fishbowl beads with gloss medium . Had to let them dry for a bit.  Some of them I wrote words on the back of the pictures so it shows on the other side.

      Ewww I need to clean my windows...

 

 

           Finished it off with some fabric , beads and the key to my heart ,             
                       awww .... I'm so full of  Ze Cheese ..

I helped Kash make a Valentine for daddy also and we framed it

Hubbs didn't do so bad either ,

Life is Good , Enjoy the Small Things ..

Ok  , so I haven't blogged in a bit and decided to make a new blog. I started a Craft Group , three other ladies and I get  together bi- weekly and just make random crafts of our choice . It's great , we have only had two nights so far and are having our third tonight . I wanted to make a place where I can blog all of our nifty projects.

I am in love with our crafty night and look forward to it so much now ! I never realized how fulfilling , fun and exciting it could be to make a crafty night and get together with other crafty gals on a regular basis. I'm so excited to see what everybody else is going to bring to the table because they are all awesome . It feeds my creativity and I feel like I have already learned so much. If you are ever bored , uninspired and find yourself longing for some crafty comradery , seriously , gather up some cool chicks that like to create just as much as you and host a crafty night , see how it goes . Do it ! it's good for your soul and you won't regret it !  It's a blast . 

Our 2nd night two weeks ago .MINI ART QUILTS

This one is mine . My first crack at quilting and embroidering . Nice to start out small :) I would love to post the other girls projects up here as well when they finish them , with their permission of course. I think I am going to like quilting just fine . I found out what a quilting foot is and that I do not have one for my machine so that is definitely on my mental crafty wish list. I'll get into more detail about our projects later when I gots more time ! Right now I am going to post my valentines day project I made for my hub and then I gotta get ready for tonight .  Peace Out , check ya later !
